Our town does a way fun celebration every year around Pioneer Day. They start with a parade, have all kinds of blow up rides and games in the park (complete with the fire truck spraying the whole field to cool everyone off) and end the day with a great fireworks display. Sadly, this year it was too windy for the fireworks so they have been postponed until tonight. Here is a glimpse of some of the fun....the cake-eating contest pictures are on my mom's camera so I will add them in as soon as I get them from her (hint, hint Mom) Here's Dayton and his cousin Grace checking out the ants waiting for the parade to begin.
I love how Duncan's hair is sticking straight up here. Instead of sliding down the slide he jumped.
Duncan seeing how fast he could throw...he did this one a couple of times because they were giving out pretty decent prizes.
My dad talked Dayton into doing the dunk tank. The poor kid had absolutely no idea what was going on. He didn't really say anything when he got out - I think he was just sort of shocked about the whole thing. After seeing Dayton, Duncan decided that he no longer wanted to try it.
He did, however, try the rock wall. He didn't get very far, but he did a great job. He actually climbed up a few pegs before he decided he had had enough.
We finished out the day with some cowboy rides. The kids did it twice and would have done it another ten times if we hadn't had to go. All in all it was a great day!
