Duncan has had two loose teeth for what seems like forever. He waited and waited and waited for one of them to come out. He really was getting frustrated because almost everyone in his class at school had lost a tooth except for him. Well last week he came home from school and gave me a big smile the second he got home. This was a little unusual for him so for about half a second I couldn't figure out what he was doing and then I noticed the brand new hole in his mouth. He was SO excited! He said that during music he wiggled it over and over again until he could just yank it out. Now, in my mind, this is just a little bit cheaterhead and doesn't quite count as a 'lost' tooth, but I think that's just me. He was so excited to show everyone and he couldn't wait to put his tooth under his pillow to get some money. So that night I put 50 cents into his little tooth box. Well, apparently Jeff thought that I was too cheap because at 1:00 in the MORNING Duncan shows up in my room and wakes me up to show me the dollar and two quarters he had gotten. Only it wasn't just a dollar. It was a FIVE dollar bill. Lucky for me Duncan couldn't tell in the dark so I told him that I would keep it safe for him and sent him back to bed. Then in the morning I swapped out the $5 for $1. There is NO WAY I am setting the standard of $5 for each tooth. I have no idea what Jeff was thinking. Anyways, here he is in all his glory:

One...Two!
So then yesterday he came home from school with another big grin and an even bigger hole. His other one came out too! This time he didn't yank it, but he did wiggle it until it fell out. He keeps saying that it feels really weird to not have any loose teeth to wiggle. He told me that there was a kid in his class that also had a really loose tooth so he told him how to wiggle it until he could pull it out....what a helper. This time I almost forgot about the money - I only remembered right as I was going to bed - phew! I would have had a hard time coming up with a cover story if I had forgotten. This time I went with four quarters instead of two and he seemed happy enough. He only woke up at 6:30 today instead of 1:00 so I guess I should be grateful but he also managed to wake up his brothers and they started the day by having a shoutfest while I was trying to grab a last few minutes of sleep before I had to get up and make breakfast. Oh well - he's excited. Here's the new look:

oh, it is fun as they start growing up.
One time the tooth fairy was a day late because of all the snow.
$5 is high. .50 is low
Can't tell you how many times I forgot so the next morning I would put the money in my hand and tell them that it must be lost somewhere in their bed and then I would magically find it.
