Last week was Duncan's first grade program. They have been learning lots of songs in their music class and have been practicing for a really long time...they did so great! Here is Duncan right in the front row (it pays to have short kids). Isn't he cute?

But, that's not the point of this post. It's just the setting. Halfway through the program Dayton gets our attention. The first thing I notice is blood on his finger. Next thing is that he has a brand new hole in his mouth. He pulled out his tooth, right there during the program! Of course he also dropped it right away and we couldn't find it anywhere. We asked the people in the row behind us if they saw it and no luck. I couldn't believe that we had lost his very first tooth! So when the concert was over we waited until everyone had gone and the chairs were all picked up and lo and behold Dayton found it! It was about 3 feet away from where we had been sitting. Who knew a tooth could move that far?

Showing it off

What's funny is that Dayton actually had a loose tooth before Duncan did, but it was barely, barely loose. He hadn't even noticed it until the dentist mentioned it at their last checkup. And at that point Duncan's weren't loose at all. But then once his did get loose they went quicker than Dayton's.
So anyway, once again I played tooth fairy and though he didn't wake up in the middle of the night to show me his money he did wake me up about 20 minutes before I had to get Duncan up for school. I got properly excited and told him to let me go back to sleep. Then a few minutes later he came in again, this time with his second loose tooth in his hand! I don't know what is up with my kids and pulling their teeth out. I guess they really love money? I didn't get a good picture of him right away where you could see the big space, so this one is after his haircut a few days later.

The good news is no one has any more loose teeth for now, but the next time it happens I think I better stock up on quarters.
