Happy Birthday Dayton!!

What a sweetheart Dayton is. He is definitely the kindest of all my kids. He is always concerned about how other people are feeling. If he thinks Jeff or I is having a bad day or getting upset he will rub our backs or pat our arm or something to help. He is especially sweet with Ellie. He always runs to get her a toy or something that he thinks will help if she start to cry. I absolutely love that about him.

He totally loves school and is doing really, really well. Every time I see his teacher she talks about how crazy smart he is. He is a great reader and loves to sit in his bed and read for a long time when it's bedtime. It probably sounds really bad to say this, but we didn't really expect Dayton to be super smart...not that we thought he wouldn't be smart, but we have been surprised at how much he is excelling. He also has quite the math brain, apparently. This kid just needed the structure of school to start caring about learning I think. If only we could get him to care about his handwriting!

He has been so excited to turn seven and has been counting down the days until his birthday for over a month now. Instead of having a friend party this year he said he is okay with just inviting one friend over on a Friday night to do fun stuff with Jeff. He is planning on playing Wii and then going out for frozen yogurt. When I suggested that as an idea since I am still not totally better and not up to doing a big party he was so agreeable and immediately said that he liked the idea. How nice for me. He really is just a great kid. The older he gets the more awesome he is. He definitely has had some hard stages, but it's like this totally rad kid has been in there and just needed to get older to show up.

Bit of a goofy birthday pic this year...he got a new monkey hat and wanted me to take his picture being a monkey.
