Duncan is awesome. He really is. He is so perfectly suited to being the oldest. I rely on him all the time for all kinds of things. Helping with Ellie, trying to get Dayton and Tucker to do what they're supposed to, getting things for me when I'm too lazy to get up, etc. He's not perfect, of course.....there's plenty of times when he's getting in just as much trouble as the others, but he is definitely a huge help to me. I much prefer when he's not in school because it actually makes things easier for me.
I have noticed recently how nice it is to just sit and talk with him - he has always been so interested in everything and loves to ask questions and just discuss things. Especially the scriptures - he has loved to read and listen to scriptures since he was really little, but lately he is reading them a lot on his own. Our bishop has challenged everyone to read through the Book of Mormon this year so we are doing it as a family, but Duncan is reading on his own too. He just started 2 Nephi - what a great kid.
He is just so much fun. He is goofy and has a great sense of humor. What he loves best is being at my mom's house - he would live there if he could I think. He loves craft projects and making things. He eats a ton, more than me a lot of the time at dinner. Good luck to us when he's a teenager. He is probably at least a full head shorter than anyone else his age, but he's okay with it. One of his really good friends at school is actually the biggest kid in class, so they make a funny pair. He idolizes his cousin Trevor, who is 16, and also a great kid. We always say that if Duncan can turn out like Trevor he'll be okay. Except for maybe a little better at getting his homework done. :)
I can't believe he's already nine. Time flies for sure. We love you Dunc!!!!!
