Happy Birthday Dayton!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a big one for Dayton this year....8 years old! He has been waiting for this for a long time, pretty much ever since Duncan got baptized. He actually gets to be baptized this Saturday, so everything is really close together. But that will be its own post.

Dayton is probably my sweetest  and kindest kid. He is very sensitive to other people's feelings....like if he can tell that Jeff is having a bad day and getting really frustrated he will start to rub his back. Or if Ellie is having yet another emotional breakdown over something he will give her a hug and tell her it's ok. He is also the first one to compromise if everyone is locked into wanting to get their way. Sometimes Duncan can take advantage of this, but I think it's still a good trait. Maybe the best thing about him is how much he loves people. Every Primary teacher he has had, every teacher at school, he just thinks they are the best people on the planet. He is so happy to see them thinks they are absolutely wonderful. He's just so loving and overlooks faults. He is definitely very touchy-feely and sometimes has absolutely no concept of others' personal spac :)

He used to be a really picky eater but I persevered in making him try things and I am proud to say that the list of what he won't eat has shrunk dramatically. It's pretty much just potatoes. He still won't take more than a couple of bites of those without major drama. Weird. He is the World's Messiest Kid. Guaranteed. He tries to eat with his hands every single night at dinner and never uses his napkin. He prefers his shirt. And if he is eating mustard (which is his favorite) watch out. I once washed a shirt that looked like he had tried to take a bath in it.

He is also a super fun kid. He loves to be goofy and tell silly jokes. He loves to make up elaborate make believe games with Duncan and Tucker. And he really loves his friends. Whenever he and his best friend Xander get together to play the first thing they do is give each other bear hugs that always last a good long time.

I'm sure there's lots more I should say but his party starts in an hour and I still have at least 10 things to get done. Love you Doodlebug!
